Gas Leak Detection & Response

Rotten egg smell means leave immediately. Call 911. Once cleared, we locate the exact failure point.

โš  If You Smell Gas Right Now
  • Leave the building immediately โ€” do not turn lights on or off
  • Do not use your phone inside the building
  • Leave the front door open as you exit
  • Move at least 100 feet from the building
  • Call 911, then your utility, then us

When to Call Us for Gas Leak Detection

After the utility has verified the immediate danger is resolved, or when you suspect a small leak (rotten-egg smell that comes and goes, dead vegetation over a buried line, higher gas bill with no change in usage) that doesn't require an emergency evacuation, our certified technicians use electronic gas detection equipment to locate the precise source.

We also perform post-repair verification โ€” confirming the utility's fix or our own repair sealed the leak completely before you reoccupy the space or restore appliances to service.

What We Detect

  • Natural gas supply line leaks (buried and interior)
  • Propane line and tank connection failures
  • Gas appliance connection leaks (range, water heater, dryer, furnace)
  • Buried service line failures before the meter
  • Post-repair leak verification testing

๐Ÿšจ Active Gas Smell

If you smell gas NOW โ€” leave first. Call 911 and your utility. Then call us for post-clearance detection. Never enter a building that smells of gas to use a phone or switch.

Signs of a Gas Leak โ€” Less Obvious Than You Think

Intermittent Rotten-Egg Smell Natural gas is odorized with mercaptan โ€” the rotten-egg smell. If you smell it only in certain rooms, at certain times, or faintly, a slow leak is likely. Don't wait for it to get stronger.
Dead Vegetation Above a Buried Line Gas escaping underground displaces oxygen in the soil root zone. A strip of dead grass directly above your gas service line is a sign of a buried leak โ€” detectable even without an odor above ground.
Higher Gas Bill with No Explanation Unexplained increases in your gas bill when usage patterns haven't changed can mean gas is escaping the system rather than reaching appliances. Often the first and only sign of a slow buried leak.
Hissing Sound Near a Gas Appliance or Line Audible hissing at a connection, valve, or appliance indicates active gas escape. Shut off the appliance shutoff valve if safe to do so, ventilate, and call us immediately.
